Beginnings

The shop opened in the 1942 and was turned into a fishmongers by George Armstrong.

Until his retirement in 1983 having built up the business to a very high standard of service and quality as one of the top Fishmongers in Edinburgh he left the shop with a good pedigree for the future owners, the shop was then taken over by Ian Breslind who maintained the same high standards that George had left, Ian Breslind then leased the shop to Gaven Borthwick.

In 1999 and then in 2001 Gaven had the opportunity to buy the shop which he did in 2001. Gaven who had worked in the shop for many years was then given the opportunity to improve the variety of fish that was available to him when he became the new owner.

Sadly Gaven had taken ill 2012 and was unable to carry on and had to pass the shop on to new owners in 2014.
